Dear Betty and family:
I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. He was too young. As fine a fellow as I have ever known (He even lent me some of his underwear once when my luggage was lost, if you remember, Betty.) I will always cherish the fond memories of our association here in Durham and when I visited you in Ithaca.

He was a wonderful man who showed me great kindness. I respected him deeply and have thought of him often over the years. I'll never forget his laugh and the smell of his pipe. He was a warm and patient man; and he and his family are in my thoughts now.

I worked in the physics dept at the time Prof Richardson was there. I always had the greatest respect for him, and I knew he would go far in his profession. I am sorry to hear about his death. I will be thinking about him and his family at this sad time. Dorothy W. McEachron

I first met Dr. Richardson when I was a high school student participating in an NSF program for high school students that Dr. Richardson taught at Cornell. As a result I went on to major in physics at Cornell. He was a great teacher and a great scientist. He was also a great person. He always treated his students with respect and made us feel that he valued as as people. He will be missed.
