Roy "Bart" Haile Sr.

Roy Bartee "Bart" Haile, Sr. passed away on July 1st, 2015 in Georgetown TX after a brief illness. Bart was born on December 30th, 1923 in Crosbyton, Texas to May and Starr Haile. He grew up in Littlefield Texas where he went to grade school and high school. At the age of 13 he met Gladys Jeffers of Lubbock Texas and they married when he was 18 and she was 17 before he joined the Navy and he served in both World War II and the Korean War. After the war, they moved to Dallas where he was able to attend Southern Methodist University on the GI bill and SMU provided housing for the veterans in an area called "Trailerville." They made lifelong friends and the first of their 4 children was born there. After graduating in 1949 with a degree in accounting from SMU, Bart went on to have a long career in sales and sales management, spending most of his career with Pitney Bowes before retiring in 1987. He enjoyed a successful career moving from sales representative up to district and branch management and won numerous sales award trips that he and his wife Gladys enjoyed. The family moved frequently for his work and lived in Dallas, Austin and other cities around Texas as well as Oklahoma and Kansas. After retirement, Bart and Gladys enjoyed traveling around Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, Las Vegas, and anywhere their children were. They had very memorable trips to Thailand and Europe. He also loved to golf and belonged to Balcones Country Club in Austin in the 1970s and Hillcrest Country Club in Lubbock after retirement. Bart is survived by his wife Gladys, a half-brother Randy Haile, children Roy Bartee Jr. and his wife Gerri, Suzette Haile and her husband Roger Otto, Michele Haile and her husband Ken Anderson and Jeffers and his wife Teresa, two grandchildren Jeffers Haile Jr. and Brett Haile and his wife Dr. Sarah Martindale as well as one great grandchild Lila Grace Haile. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home with a reception immediately following in the Reception Hall. Burial will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, TX. Bart and his whole family are avid pet lovers and family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to your favorite animal rescue group or to the Alzheimer Association.
