Salvatore Balzano

Salvatore (Sal) Balzano, of Yorktown Heights, NY, passed away on April 15, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born in the Bronx on July 17, 1932, the son of Silverio and Candita (Annuziata) Balzano. After serving his country in the Navy, he studied at Fordham University and graduated in 1960. On October 6, 1963, he married Ada Feola at Our Lady of Pity Church in the South Bronx. Sal worked in retail for many years before becoming a bookkeeper for Calvary Baptist Church in New York City until he retired. Sal loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved to cook for everyone who came to visit. Sal is survived by Ada, his wife of 54 years, his son Silvio and his wife Alicia, and their three children, Nicholas, Juliana, and Christina, as well as many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Adele Mazzella and Olga Verde, and his brothers Silvio and Joseph. Visiting hours will be Thursday, April 19, from 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, April 20, at 11:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, in Mahopac. A private burial will follow.
