Salvatore Sancimino Obituary

Published by Andrett Funeral Home on Nov. 29, 2019.
On November 29, 2019 Salvatore Sancimino went to rest. He left us peacefully after a long-fought battle against Alzheimer's. Everyone who knew him knew someone who cared. He was always just there. He never had an easy life, but he just kept giving. He often told us about having his first job at 8 years old. When our World was at War he was too young to fight, but volunteered to join the National Guard at 17, and remained in the reserves for 8 years. As a young man, he tried working for the post office, worked as a conductor, and drove our subways as a motorman, but ultimately found his calling as a New York City Firefighter where he spent 38 years in a life of service to others in need. After a long life as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished son, nephew, brother, cousin and uncle; He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 61 years, his son Daniel, daughter-in-law Mary, daughter Kathleen, and his grandchildren Patrick and Christina. He raised his family, never wavering, never faltering. No one ever went without. We will miss you, and you will remain in our hearts forever. You will forever be our example of how strong and kind we can be. Even in death keeping his family above all else, he made sure his final resting place will be alongside his grandson Matthew. Salvatore never let his family, in this life and the next, pass through alone.

I am Sal's Godson. For my baptismal name, I am named after him. He is my second father in every way. I just found out literally minutes ago that he has passed on through an internet search. I am devastated beyond words. I can say so much about him and share great memories but it would take up pages and pages and would have to be typed through tears that are pretty much stopping me from reading what I am typing now.

He will forever stay in my heart and mind. I will be thinking about him from time to time for the rest of my life. One of the most giving and compassionate the world was blessed with.

I love you Sal. See you in heaven.

John

I've known Sal most of my life, Margie and my Mom were dear friends and Kathleen is one of my cherished friends growing up. Sal was another Dad to me...always making us laugh but would also lay down the law. One of my vivid and cherished moments with him over the years was when Kat and I were bike riding and she got hit by a car. He was one of the first on the scene, checking on his Daddy's girl... providing comfort, love and care to his girl while finding out all details of the accident and making sure I was ok as well. I remember him telling me that Kat was going to be ok... telling me I took good care of her whilebjust making Kat feel good and making me comfortable. A scary situation but all ok because Sal was there. Loved and appreciated all of his sayings. Sal Sancimino was an amazing man, I'm blessed to have known him and experience the love and care he shared and gave to his family and the world. Rest in Peace Sal❤
