Shirley Ruth Carter, 89, of Shelbyville, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2023, in Center, Texas. She was born on June 29, 1934, in Bebe, Texas, to the late Jesse Allen and Evelyn Ruth (McGinty) Allen.
Graveside service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Shelbyville Cemetery, Shelbyville, Texas.
Shirley Ruth grew up in Gonzales County. She graduated from high school and married the love of her life, Bruce Carter, and the two spent many wonderful years together before his passing in 1986.They raised three girls. Shirley Ruth loved listening to music. She enjoyed reading and spending precious time with her grandchildren. Shirley Ruth loved the Lord and served him throughout the years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Shelbyville.
She is survived by her daughters,

Shirley Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Carter; parents, Jesse and Evelyn Allen; brother, J.T. "Bubba" Allen Jr.; sister, Marilyn Allen and brother-in-law Calvin Allen; sister-in-law, Iris Allen; and great grandson, David Michael Patterson.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations in loving memory of Mrs. Carter be made to Shelbyville Cemetery, PO Box 453, Shelbyville, Texas, 75973.
