So terribly sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. Such a caring, funny, and compassionate friend. She and my mom have been friends for such a long time. She will be sorely missed. Love and prayers for strength to her family.

Shirley has been my best friend since 1st grade. We grew up talking about our future, our families, laughing and sometimes crying together. As we got older, we still talked about our future, our families (now including, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren) and still, laughing and sometimes crying together. Whether on the phone or when she'd visit bringing fresh eggs, we were still those school girl friends who had shared a lifetime of treasured memories. Shirley, you will forever be my best friend.
Sending love and prayers to her family.
Rest in peace my dear friend.

I, too, hurt with so many others upon losing Shirley. I learned of her illness and passing in the same sentence, just enough words apart to get my hopes up she could be mending before told the ending I didn't want. It's hard to imagine a Ponchatoula without Shirley brightening our days. May we all find comfort in our memories of her and may we all continue sharing her special ways with others...

Mrs. Shirley is going to be greatly missed. I met her back in the late 1990's at TOPS(Take Off Pounds Sensibly). I gave her the nickname Skinny Dietz because she would come in every week with a weight loss. I can honestly say I love and going to miss my dear friend.

Memories
For all the resale stores we visited
For all the restaurants we ate at
For all the laughs we had together
Nothing had me ready for you to leave
A lot of fun to be around
Never a dull moment
So many pictures of children/grandchildren, the loves of your life
A Christian woman
A wife
A mother
A grandmother and looking forward to being a great grandmother
A bus driver
A pure country girl
For all of the above, you will be missed
Memories,
Love, Lucy

Ms. Shirley almost always brought my class on field trips. If we went to Kenner or the big city Mr. Dietz always was aboard. She wouldn't drive just anyone. She didn't mind the kids singing but they had to be responsible & respectful. I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope & pray you will feel God's blessing & comfort as you go through these days without her.
I taught Ryan and never new Ms. Shirley was his grandmother. She was always smiling around us. I know you will cherish your memories.
