Stanley G. Gentry, 70, of Greenup, IL passed away on August 24, 2024, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. A battle fought hard; a life taken too soon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday August 31, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm till service time. The family would like everyone to wear casual attire. Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery.
Stan was born on January 11, 1954, to Joe and Wanda (Hesler) Gentry in Bainbridge, Maryland. He married Trina Winnett on July 11, 1976. Stan is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; daughters Mindy Brant (Greg Sims), Mandi (Charlie) Finn, and Brandi (Brad) Wendte; son William Aaron; Grandchildren Shalynn, Wyatt, Brianna, Brooklyn, Brycen, Brylie, Lauren, Landon, Leah, and Liberty; Great-Grandchildren Aubrie, Rhett, and Asher. Stan is also survived by sisters Becky Shull and Debbie Gentry; brothers Mike (Julie) and Dan Gentry. He also leaves behind Dan and Jill Kimble, Jeff and Nicole Winnett, several nieces and nephews, and his dog Joey. He always said he would not have an inside dog, but Joey had been a life saver to him. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Deanne Winnett, and Ray and Brad Winnett.
Stan was known to many as one special person. Stan was a dad and a grandpa to a family that he loved. He was a big brother and an uncle guy to many. Known as Uncle Stan to Trina's side of the family. Known as Rock, Rock On, and Rocky to many. He struggled to cope with daily life, but he did it with a positive attitude and a smile. He worked at Anamet (Anaconda) for 35 years. He went to work at Trailmobile before going back to Anamet until retirement. Stan was a member of the S.A.L in Toledo for 39 years and a past member of the Cumberland County Sportsmen's Club.
