Stephen Donald Milton

Stephen D. Milton, age 69, passed away on July 31, 2016 at his home in Deep River, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Nantucket, MA, Steve moved to CT when he was 9, soon thereafter making Deep River the home where he would spend his next 60 years. Steve believed in hard work, honesty and integrity. These traits defined his life from childhood, as a veteran of the U.S. Army, through his early years as a tree cutter, and throughout the 45 years he served as a real estate broker at The Milton Realty Co, a firm he established with his father Donald in 1973. Steve was also a devoted community advocate, serving the Deep River Rotary Club, United Way, and many other organizations throughout the years. He loved the outdoors, particularly leisurely rides on Full Tilt down the CT River. His camping trips with dear friends and family vacation adventures are the stuff of legend. More than anything, Steve loved people. A proud family patriarch and beloved friend to so many, the relationships he shared were the heart of his life and the legacy he leaves. He is pre-deceased by his loving parents Donald and Eleanor; and will be immeasurably missed by Barbara, his wife of 45 years, sons Chris and his wife Miki, grandchildren Brady and Micaela Milton of Owings, MD, Greg and his wife Jeanne, grandchildren Avery and Samantha Milton of New City, NY, siblings Sandi Milton, Brenda Rudewicz, Linda Milton, Craig Milton and Lisa Rudewicz, and more friends and loved ones than can be counted. The family shares a special thank-you to all of those that have supported him over the last year. A visitation will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook on Thursday, August 4th from 5:00-7:00. Funeral Services will be Friday, August 5th at 11:00 at Deep River Congregational Church, followed by interment at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River with full military honors.
