Steve was a great friend. He will be missed. Steve contacted me years ago at Kennedy Space Center and assisted me in adding a E85 fueling station in our Launch Control area. Heck he did most of the work and took great pride in the station. It became the demonstration E85 station for Florida since it was the second station in the state. many of the local counties, power companies, FDOT , area Cities, Clean Cities and FDOT toured the station. The station became the blue print for E85 stations. Many of the companies that toured the KSC station would ordered and installed the exact station. Steve lead the charge to promote renewable fuels.
Steve was a history buff and was excited as a little kid on Christmas while he was on the center. He viewed every launch he could. many as a NASA Guest. He toured all the old launch pads , where space history started and lived to tell the story. God Speed Steve Proffitt you will be missed my friend.
