Thelma HOUSTON

HOUSTON, Thelma Campbell 98, of St. Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Addington Place at College Harbor. Born June 6, 1924, in Somerville, MA, she was the only child of the late Paul Morehouse and Effie Mae (Campbell) Hunson. Thelma was determined to live life on her terms and fill each day. Her hobbies and talents afforded her many wonderful experiences. She was a competitive ballroom dancer, winning Fox Trot Champion 1960; her singing voice brought her close to being a vocalist for big bands. She continued to entertain by visiting rest homes and singing to the residence, and singing in her choir. She volunteered her time at Sunshine Senior Center, hosting tea dances and playing cards. Her trendy style made her a true fashionista. While working at GE, she met Charles Thomas Houston. She not only gained a husband, but also an immediate family of five stepchildren, lovingly referred to as "you people". She will be remembered fondly by her stepchildren, Charlene (Rodger) Gary, of Oregon, Joan (Jon), of California, Charles "Tom" (Cheryl), of Oregon, Stephne Houston (Dan Easley), of Oregon, and Samuel (Sandra) Houston, of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
