Virginia Lee Milligan, age 88, of Collins, IA passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Zearing Health Care Center.
Virginia was born February 4, 1936, in Colfax, IA. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Whitehead) DeReus. Virginia attended Mingo High School (Class of 1954) then attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA. On March 4, 1956, Virginia married the love of her life, Reno Ray Milligan in Mingo, IA. She was a farm wife and also worked as a secretary at the Collins Fertilizer Plant. Virginia was a faithful member of the Collins United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, and a 4-H leader. Virginia (Ginny) was tender hearted, content and cared for others deeply. She enjoyed baking cookies, sewing, traveling to see many sights along with family and friends across the United States. Most importantly, she loved spending time with all her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mary Beth (Douglas) Atwood, Kelly (Cheryl) Milligan, and Julie (Dale) Willis; her grandchildren: Toni (Ross) Primack, Shelley (Darin) Wing, Stefanie (Kris) King, Justin (Spenser) Atwood, Zachary (Marissa) Willis, Danielle (Brandon) Haugland; great grandchildren: Carter Willis, Parker King, Armor Haugland, Blair Atwood, Emerson Primack, Harlow Haugland, Taylor Wing, Chas King, Paige Atwood, Harper Bahr, Rockston Haugland, and Falyn Haugland; her sister Betty Karns, her sister-in-law Barb DeReus, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Reno, her parents Lloyd and Ruth DeReus and her brother Harold DeReus.
As we leave our home for one last time,the life we loved please remember

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00 P.M- 8:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Virginia's name to her family which will be further designated.
