SCHENECTADY - William H. "Willy" Anthony, Jr., 81, of Schenectady, entered eternal peace on September 22, 2024, in Albany, NY. Born on November 8, 1942, in Schenectady, Willy was raised in his beloved hometown, where he graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1960.
Shortly after, Willy served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963 aboard the USS
Enterprise. Over the years, had many careers, but his favorite was as a shuttle driver for Albany International Airport. A natural conversationalist with a heart full of life, Willy found joy in meeting and talking to people from all walks of life. He made friends from around the world during his yearly trips to Las Vegas over the past 30 years.
At home, Willy was a warm and generous host who loved to entertain friends and family. In later years, he built a beautiful gazebo, where he often gathered loved ones around his famous fires, creating cherished memories. Willy was a man known for his kindness, generosity and empathy; -he would give you the shirt off his back and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Willy is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 58 years, Theresa A. "Terri" Anthony; devoted sons, whom are proud to emulate their father, Christopher (Cindy) Anthony and Greg (Debbie) Anthony; cherished grandchildren; Madeline and Kaylee Anthony; many dear relatives, friends, and associates.
A celebration of Willy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Schenectady Veteran's Club, 718 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12305, reflecting Willy's generous spirit.
