William "Bill" Ernest Berry, 72, of Rogers died Friday, May 9, 2025 at his residence. He was born on July 14, 1952 in San Francisco, California the son of Gladys (Brown) and Lt. Col. Thomas Berry.
At the age of 4 his family moved to Kailua, Hawaii where he graduated high school. After high school, Bill served in the United States Navy. In December of 1983, Bill married his wife, Janie (Dunson) Berry. Together they had three sons; Greg Berry, Justin Berry and Steven Berry.
Bill was a member of First Baptist Rogers – Olive Street Campus, America Legion Post 100, Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard, President of Scottish Society, Scottish Right Masonic Lodge and 32nd Degree Mason. As a church member, he taught Sunday school and was a leader of Royal Ambassadors.
Bill was a hard worker that had a host of careers over the years. He served his country and community by working as a security guard, probation officer, Coroner, embalmer, taxi driver, and guitar teacher. Bill was also a gold miner in California, dog breeder, worked in a greenhouse, at a rehab center in Hot Springs, and at EZ Mart.
He enjoyed fishing, talking to anyone and everyone, riding horses, riding motorcycles, collecting elephants and Egyptian items, music, playing guitar, singing, reading poetry, watching Westerns, and facial makeup.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gladys Berry; his siblings, Eugenia Tunstal of Nevada, Thomas Berry Jr. of Ohio, Patricia Nixon of Nevada, Robert "Bob" Berry of Texas, and his youngest son Pvt. Steven Berry.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janie Berry of the home; two sons, Greg Berry of Missouri, and Justin Berry of Rogers; two grandsons, Daniel Berry of New York, and Mica Crandell of New York; many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful family and friends.
Visitation for Bill will be Wednesday, May 14 from 10am to 11 am at First Baptists Church Rogers – Olive Street Campus. Funeral service to follow at 11 am officiated by Pastor Brock Caldwell. Committal service will be at 1:30 pm at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Honors provided by Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard.
