William Henderson Hawes, Jr. age 90, died February 28, 2020 at his home in Raleigh, N.C. surrounded by his loving wife, Wendy Sue Tolsma Hawes and adoring daughter, Melinda Kay Hawes. William was born February 15, 1930 in Granby, MO. to William H. Hawes, Sr. and Cora Belle Aspey Hawes. He was second to the oldest of five children. William served in the Air Force during the Korean war from 1950-1953. William dedicated his life to serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He served as Minister of Music/Education in Baptist Churches in Texas and California. William was founder and CEO of Puppet Productions from 1972-2009 after which he retired at the age of 79. William will be forever remembered by his 4 siblings, his adoring wife of almost 39 years, Wendy Sue Tolsma Hawes and his 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 17,2020 at 9:30 am; Forest Lawn Mortuary of Covina Hills, 21300 Via Verde St. Covina, Ca. 91724. Kirk Hargreaves will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Samaritan's Purse, a Christian humanitarian aid organization, providing aid to people in physical need. The organization's president is Franklin Graham, son of Christian evangelist Billy Graham.
