William F. "Bill" Troesch, age 94, of Marysville, died peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Walnut Crossing Care Center following an extended illness.
On January 18, 1929, Bill was born in Marysville, Ohio, the middle of five children of the late John and Leola Mae (Potts) Troesch.
In 1946, Bill enlisted to serve in the US Army, where he served two tours in Korea during the Korean War. He served for five years, and was involved in their engineering department.
So the story goes one day while spending time with his friends on the porch, a young lady walked by and Bill said "I'm going to marry her some day." That young lady was Madge Virginia Davis, and Bill would marry her on June 24, 1950, while he was on leave from the Army. Together they shared seventy-three years of marriage, and raised three children: Bill, Randy, and Susie.
Upon his honorable discharge, Bill returned home to Union County, where he worked in numerous places over the years. Most notably, he worked many years for the Rockwell International Corporation in their North American Aviation division. Lastly, he worked for twenty plus years in maintenance for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Marysville, until his retirement in 1992.
Bill was a member and past grand master of the Palestine Masonic Lodge #158, a member of the Union County Shrine, and the Aladdin Shrine Temple. He also had attended and was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marysville.
By far and away, Bill's favorite hobby and pastime was fishing. He planned everything about his fishing trips, especially which lures he would need to snag the perfect catch. He even had a place on Indian Lake, right on the water, to cast a line from his dock or take his boat out on the water. He even took a special fishing trip up to Canada with his son, Bill.
Over the years, Bill and Madge did some traveling together. Their favorite trip was to visit Bill and Madge's heritage, traveling to visit Ireland and Switzerland. They even had a special trip to visit their daughter, Susie, and her family in Japan.
He will be missed by his wife, Madge Davis Troesch of Marysville; three children: William D. "Bill" (Pat) Troesch of Oxford, OH, Randy Troesch, and Susie (Chris) Poland, both of Milford Center; seven grandchildren: Allison Troesch, Emma Troesch, Abby (Kyle) Compton-Troesch, Brittney (Luke) Cardinale, Brett (Heather) Eades, Christopher Poland, and Nathan (Sierra) Poland; seven great-grandchildren: Lily and Bailey Eades, Zoah Poland, Iris Burcham, Maribelle Benson, and Rowan and Louis "Ace" Cardinale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his four siblings: Charlie Troesch, Ida Mae Hawkins, Martin Troesch, and Ron Troesch.
His family will greet friends from 4 – 6 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, where Masonic services will follow at 6 pm. Services honoring his life will also be held there at 11 am on Thursday. Burial with military honors provided by the Union County Honor Guard will follow in Milford Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital to support their cans for kids program, and they may be sent to the funeral home.
