Felipe Serna Obituary

Dr. Felipe A. Serna, 74, passed away October 6, 2007, he was the beloved husband of Barbara (Porch); loving father of Philip (Elizabeth) Serna, Ruth (Fred) Martin and Laura (David) Smith; cherished grandfather of Reed, Brock, and Gabriella Serna; Chad, Natalie, and Madeline Martin; Olivia, Abigail, Carson, Isabel, and Roxie Smith. He was the loving brother to Jesus Serna, Carmen Serna de Sevilla, Carlos (Donna) Serna, Aida Serna, and Armando (Lupita) Serna.

Felipe was a longtime (1962) resident of Naperville as well as a winter resident of Sarasota, FL. He graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Mexico, he came to Chicago in 1957 and did his internship at Little Company of Mary, Evergreen Park and his residency at Northwestern University-Evanston Hospital. This year he celebrated his 50th year with the Illinois State Medical Society. He served as Medical Director - Chief Pathologist at Edward Hospital from 1962-1996; Deputy Corner of DuPage County, and as President of Edward Hospital Medical Staff. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring father, brother and friend. He loved reading, music, world travel, gardening, golfing, and Florida.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society are appreciated. Visitation will be held Monday October 8th from 3:00 to 8:00 at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home 516 S. Washington St. Naperville, IL 60540. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Elsworth St. Naperville, IL.Time to be determined. Interment private.
