Frederick Heise Naples, FL
Frederick John 'Fred' Heise, 92, of Naples, entered eternal life December 21, 2014. Born in Brattleboro, VT, he was the son of Frederick J. and Elsie Pauline (Joh nson) Heise.
In 1941 at age 18, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was chosen for Officer Candidate School. Serving as a Naval Aviator in WW II, he spent 24 years on active duty. Fred was humble about his USN career and felt he was one of many veterans doing their duty. He completed missions on/off aircraft carriers and survived a mid-air collision, amongst various assignments. His last duty was as Operations Officer, Quonset Point, N. Kingstown, RI. Fred retired as a Commander in 1964.
With the help of his late first wife and children, Fred built the Kingstown (RI) Bowl. His children now own and operate the KB. Fred married his wife, Moe in 1989, and instantly increased the size of a large family. Their years together were spent motor homing, dancing and entertaining, and enjoying a new lifestyle in Naples; golfing and making new cherished friends at Royal Wood G & CC.
Some of Fred's greatest accomplishments were his service to country, God and his combined family. His gift of unconditional love bestowed upon family and friends coined his motto 'Nary a bad word for anyone.' Everyone will remember his sweet demeanor, gentle smile, 'Hey Big Guy", 'Doll' and 'You Divil.'
Fred will be dearly missed by his wife of 25 years, Maureen N. 'Moe' Heise; children, Frederick J. (Marge), Kevin C. (Cheryl), Terence P. (Nancy), Claire (Edwin) Gless, Marie (Michael) Lang; stepchildren, Shannon Beatty, Kerrin (Matthew) Chrupcala, and Kecia (David) Courtemanche; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Claire (O'Connor); and granddaughter, Madeline E. Healy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, (TOMORROW) January 6th, 2015, 2 :00 to 6:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home-East.
The memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, January 7th, 2:00 p.m., St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Final committal at the St. Peter Columbarium with military honors will follow the conclusion of the mass.
A celebration of Fred's life this summer in Rhode Island will be announced.
Sincere thanks to NCH 6-South for wonderful care; Dr. Carlos Quintero for compassion and guidance; and Avow Hospice for a peaceful crossing.
