James O'Neill Obituary

James "Jim" Francis O'Neill

Naples - James "Jim" Francis O'Neill, 60, of Naples, FL passed away on May 11, 2021 after a brief illness.

Jim was born in Youngstown, OH on July 3, 1960 to John "Jack" J O'Neill, Sr. and Mary Ann O'Neill. The family relocated to Naples in 1970. He attended Lely High School and graduated from Naples High School. He continued his studies at Florida State University, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Finance and was a four-year member of the World Renowned Marching Chiefs.

After college Jim returned to Naples and spent his career in private club accounting and finance.

Jim had a passion for sailing, music, FSU sports, animals, traveling and spending time with his family and friends whom he loved dearly. He was the guy everyone wanted on their Trivia team! Jim was known to those closest to him as "The Great One".

Jim is survived by his mother, Mary Ann O'Neill, brother Jack O'Neill Jr and his wife Susan, sisters Mary Beth O'Neill, Cara Buesking and Kelly Meadors Rogers, nieces Chelsea Wagner, Bri Wagner and Katie Rogers and nephews Cameron O'Neill and Matthew Rogers. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Jack O'Neill Sr.

A Funeral Mass for Jim will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 10:00 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, FL 34113. Masks are required. For those who are unable to attend in person a live stream will be available at https://youtu.be/R3Z8y3MROJY.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Jim's name can be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church (address above) or AVOW Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Ln, Naples, FL 34105.

My dear pal, I got the news this morning and i am devastated. I will never forget the memories we have had together. The Florida State - Miami game will never be the same.
