JASON REED Obituary

JASON REED

Apr. 25, 2016

Jason Michael Reed, 38, of Factoryville, entered into the Lord's presence on April 25, 2016.

Jason was born on October 17, 1977, in Tunkhannock. He was the son of Ann Marie Rossi and Louis James Reed, and the younger of two boys.

Growing up in Factoryville-West Nicholson area, Jason attended Lackawanna Trail High School and later attended Johnson Technologies in Scranton.

Jason had a successful landscaping business called Creative Touches and had journeyed to Florida looking forward to a new change of scenario for him and his family.

The impact Jason had on people did not stop with his family and close friends. Jason had a real zest for life and he loved to give rather than to receive. He is remembered as willing to give a perfect stranger anything he had if he thought that would make a difference in their life, sometimes to the detriment of him. It didn't matter if he went without, as he always said, "it's all good," knowing that he did well and was able to help someone.

Jason's love for his wife and children was undeniable. When Jason loved you, he loved wholeheartedly, endlessly and unconditionally. One of his favorite things to do was to give out free hugs. Jason was musically talented, playing guitar or jamming with his brother or friends. His favorite band was Guns and Roses. He was artistically inclined, and he was exceptional in the many trades he mastered, whether working with his hands or his mind. When Jason put his mind to something, there was no stopping him. He focused on making himself better at things. There was a stubbornness about him that drove him to do better. He would follow through and then sit back and everyone would be amazed at his accomplishment. He was a very bright guy, who always, at first glance, may appear to have had a hair brain idea, but in reality, it was brilliant. He was ahead of his time. Many profited from some of his ideas and Jason was all right with that. Jason enjoyed traveling, spending quality time with his family and friends and he had a love of animals and nature and fishing. He loved riding his motorcycles and riding in the wind. He always felt it made his troubles seem far away.

Jimmy, Jason's brother recalls, "We had a special kind of brotherly bond. Although life had taken us down different roads time after time, we both knew at the drop of a dime we would be there to back each other up without question. We would call each other and joke about life's tasks and how we dealt with them. We would pick each other up when we were down; then laugh about how stupid it was to be down about the situation in the first place." Jimmy also commented that he will hold Jason's memories in his heart and in closing said he and Jason would say to each other before hanging up on many of the calls they shared, "Love you brother, miss you, Hakuna Matata."

He leaves behind his wife, Gretchen; a daughter Madelyn; son Hayden; and a baby due in August. He is survived by his parents, Ann Marie Rossi of Factoryville, and Louis James Reed of Benton; a brother, James Reed and Alycia Hawk of Springville; half-sisters: Jody Hallock and Tanya Reed; nephews: Dillon and Kyle McHugh of West Nicholson, and Kaleb Cook and Kaden Reed of Springville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends that will miss him dearly. He is also pre-deceased by his half-brother, Anthony J. Reed, Laceyville, and a son Nicholas Reed.

To commemorate Jason's life, a Memorial with Church Service will be held Saturday, May 14, at the Factoryville United Methodist Church, 162 College Ave., with assembling at 4 p.m. and memorial service at 5 p.m., and a dinner following in the fellowship hall.

Anyone wishing to make monetary donations for his family please contact Peoples Security Bank & Trust, 42 State Street, Nicholson, PA 18446 or call 570-942-2265 with contacts: Linda Reed, Misty Mecca, or Penny Clark. (F/B/O: Gretchen Gnall).

May 15, 2016

We are honored to know you... We are blessed to love you.... We are shattered to have lost you...
Now you can feel the warmth of the sun, be guided by the stars above....
No more sorrow... No more pain...
To feel the power of Gods Love, no longer lost, but is found..
God Bless you JJ with everlasting love...

For Hayden, Madelyn and Baby Reed...
Your Daddy will always be with you, you may not be able to see or hear him, but he will be the rainbow after the spring shower, or the cool breeze on a hot summers day, the magnificent glow of the harvest moon, or the perfect snow flake that lands on your nose...He will be you strength in silence...He will always be near, He will always love you.

In life we do not remember what a person may have done for us but how they made us feel.Jason always made everyone feel good anytime he was in their presence, it speaks volumes about his character to know that He was suffering yet still always remained in good spirit for others leaving one to never know his own pain because that is just the type of compassionate dude he was,we lost a hero and this Young man has touched my own life to the point that he is unforgettable even having not seen or been around him since we were teenagers. What a great great man with a spirit that will stay with ALL that had the gift of knowing him.I can say he is greatly loved and will forever be missed.but i know He is in a better place.we love you jay!

I am so sorry for the heartache and loss that you are all going thru. I can't believe I am reading this. It brings back so many memories and leaves me in tears. Jimmy and Jason were ALWAYS at my house at Lake Carey growing up. There was a group of us that hung together including Charles Eveland. I can hear them singing guns and roses as well as other tunes from that Era. Jason shared a birthday with my older sister, Kasey Davis and that is when Jimmy drew my 1st tattoo I wanted to get. Days go by and we get older but the memories and sounds are as clear as the Arizona sky. These two guys were the older brothers I never had. My heart goes out to his wife and family. Heaven has gained another guardian angel that has been taken way to soon. I know he will be watching over his babies and may he be reunited with those that went before him. May God wrap his arms around you all and give you strength and comfort during this difficult time.
