Joan Church Obituary
Newark - Joan Eileen Church, 85, of Newark, died Friday, June 25, 2021, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born November 5, 1935, in Newark to the late Newton and Julia (Varner) Vermilion.
Joan was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Union Church. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for several medical offices throughout her working career. She enjoyed spending time with her canine companion, Heidi, crocheting, reading, puzzles, and playing board games. Horses were Joan's first love, but what she loved most was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Craig William Rowe, David Alan Rowe, Teresena "Teri" Careins, Marti Lynn Rowe, Tim Church, Lei Ann Rowe, Kelli (Eric) Schneider, and Tamre Church; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two brothers, David Vermilion and Leland (Ricki) Vermilion; and one sister, Deloris Brownfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Church; one grandson, and one great grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, OH 43055.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 10:00AM in Newark Memorial Gardens.

I had known your mother since I was a little girl. She was such a wonderful person. Always smiling and kind. She and my mother were good friends for ever it seemed. She will be greatly missed.
