Deborah Kern Obituary
Middletown, RI — Deborah (Debi) Church Kern a long-time resident of the Middletown area, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday the 3rd of March at the family home in Saunderstown RI.
Born on November 12, 1947 in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Debi received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY in 1969. She continued her education at the University of Rhode Island, from which she received her Master's Degree in Education.
Debi was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Mimi to her grandchildren. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Debi was a devoted teacher in the Middletown Public School system where she taught from 1980 until her retirement thirty years later.
Debi loved the community, where she enjoyed going to the beach with friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
Debi will be lovingly remembered by her children Meghan (Chris) Ollerhead and Ryan (Jennifer) Kern. Debi will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, Hadley, Beckett, Molly and Jase, by her sisters, Keven (Marty) Preston, Stacey (Felipe) Bustillo and brother Walter (Nancy) Church, along with all of her nieces and nephews. Debi was predeceased by her sister Pamela Church.
