RIDGE FARM - Marilyn Jean Darnell, 83, of Ridge Farm passed away Monday (Jan. 23, 2023) at Fountain Springs Assisted Living, Covington, Ind.
Marilyn was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Danville, to William and Thelma Louise Charles Jarvis. Marilyn married Glenn D. Darnell on Oct. 3, 1959, in Chicago. He passed away Dec. 2, 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne Ward of Danville; three brothers, David (Pat) Jarvis of Danville, J. C. Jarvis of Ridge Farm and Michael (Wanda) Jarvis of Cisco; two grandchildren, Aaron (Amy) Ward and Caitline Wolfe; and one great-great-grandchild, Avery Elizabeth Ward.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ron Ward, and one daughter.
She was a graduate of the Armstrong Township High School Class of 1957 and Lakeview School of Nursing. She worked in labor and delivery at the former Lakeview Hospital in Danville and later as Dr. R. G. Bowen's office nurse in Danville. Her career as a registered nurse spanned over 40 years. She was a member of the Lakeview School of Nursing Alumni Association and Chrisman American Legion Auxiliary.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Fountain Springs Assisted Living as well as Elara Caring hospice nurse Hillary and CAN Melissa.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with Chris Lawler officiating. Burial will be in OakRidge Cemetery, Catlin. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Robison Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Lakeview College of Nursing "Scholarship Fund" in her memory. Online condolences may be left at robisonchapel.com.
