Patsy Wellinger Obituary

Patsy Jeannine Wellinger

May 5, 1932 – September 28, 2023

Patsy Jeannine Wellinger, 91, of Southgate, peacefully passed away on September 28, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gustave Charles Wellinger, Jr. She leaves behind her two sons, Dennis and wife Mary (Connock) of Southgate and Richard and wife Jill (von Hofen), of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Loving grandmother of Anthony Wellinger, Christopher Wellinger and wife Alison (Polack) and Amanda and husband Devin Takacs and over the moon joyous great grandmother of Liv Alyse Wellinger. Devoted cousin to Dorothy Pasanen (Brown), Charles Brown, Ron Brown and the late Wilbur Brown and their extended families. Lifelong friend of Shirley Dunn. The family is forever grateful for the friendship, love and care provided by Rick and Gail Morrow.

Patsy was born on May 5, 1932 in Austin, Arkansas, daughter to the late Dorthea Davis (Pruett) and Robert Davis. Dear sister of Paul Davis and the late Robert Davis, William Davis and Thomas Davis. At the age of 10, after the death of her Mother, she moved to Detroit to be raised by her loving Aunt, Aretha Brown (Pruett) and Uncle, Wilbur (Pete) Brown. She retired from working as an Optometric Assistant for Dr. Will E. Phillips after 30 years in 1994.

Throughout her adult life Patsy was an avid bowler, loved to play cards, dance and attended church in Southgate where she cherished singing in the choir. She enjoyed working in her garden where she raised roses. She was a Cub Scout den mother and elementary school room Mother. Everyone that knew her always said that she was one of the kindest people they had ever met. She brought joy and love into so many lives she touched.

No service has been planned and she will be buried in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania at Prospect Cemetery, next to her husband on what would be her 92nd birthday, May 5, 2024.

So very sorry to hear about Pat, sincere condolences to Richard and Dennis and the whole family.
Growing up next door to Pat and Gus, my sisters and I always referred to Pat as our second mom. If any of us were sick, bee stung, bit by a dog, injured in any way, someone would say "go get Pat!" My kids would refer to her as Grandma Pat, she was always there in good times and bad. I saw Pat at my father´s funeral in 2020. I could genuinely tell she was happy to see me (as usual was her way with everyone) and she gave me a huge hug, I instantly felt better. We talked for a bit about my dad and growing up and she said "Steve wasn´t that fun? wasn´t that so much fun?" I smiled and we talked a little more and as I walked away, "I thought, yes, Pat, it WAS fun." God Bless you Pat and Gus, forever grateful for you both.
Love, Steve and Kristin Dunn
