Chester Fisher Obituary

Chester A. Fisher, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 26, 2006, at Evergreen Assisted Living Facility, Ormond Beach. Chester was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Americus Ga., and later settled in Florida with his wife Virginia to raise their family. Chester "Sarge" was very proud to have served his country during World War II and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Chester's hobbies included motorcycling, making and flying model airplanes and golfing. His love of motorcycles led he and his wife Virginia to take a motorcycle trip to Alaska that lasted 98 days and 17,000 miles. Chester also loved flying; he and good friend Clarence Buttons (deceased) often enjoyed flying in Clarence's airplane to many different places. Chester is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia; and three children, Linda (Richard) Crowell, Blairsville, Ga., Joseph (Cynthia) Fisher, Titusville, and Carol Morrison, Port Orange; five grandchildren; Joseph Fisher, Jr., Jennifer Creel, Richard Crowell, Beth Crowell and David Morrison; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Sydney and Cameron. The viewing will be held Monday, May 29, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and funeral service will be Tuesday, May 30, at 10 a.m. both held at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. Following the memorial service at 2:30 p.m., Chester will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
