Carol Wilkins

On December 6, 2013 a beautiful lady was taken by cancer. Now she suffers no more. At 7:46 am Carol Elizabeth Rogers Wilkins passed away. Born July 23, 1935 in Springfield, Missouri to Lester Bert Rodgers and Hazel Opal Manning Rodgers, Carol grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1953. She had a long successful career as an Executive Secretary working in Wichita in succession for Southwest Bell Telephone, Brady Drilling Company, Bob Moore Oldsmobile, Kansas State Senator Tony Casado, Fleming Company, and finally Cessna Aircraft. On July 1, 1967 she was married to Marion E. Wilkins. In 1971 they moved to Springfield, Missouri where she worked as a Field Representative for Ozark Area Community Action Corporation, an Associate Buyer for the Gourmet Shop, and finally a Regional Field Representative for Rural MO Inc. She retired in 1992. She enjoyed travel including multiple trips to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and the 1984 New Orleans World Fair. She is survived by her loving husband Marion and three daughters Jacque Cheng, Kathy Thomas, and Sharon Thomas-Parks. She had five grandchildren, Shannon Cheng, Brandon Cheng, Duncan Parks, Emily Parks and Alexander Parks. Her family and friends will remember her infectious laugh, bubbly personality and sweet spirit. A memorial visitation will be held at Green Lawn Funeral Home, 3506 N. National Avenue, Springfield, MO, 65803 on Wednesday, December 11, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorial gifts can be donated to Hospice Compassus, 1465 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO, 65804.
