William Whisner Obituary

William (Bill) Arthur Whisner, Jr.

William (Bill) Arthur Whisner, Jr. departed this world. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 9:40 a.m. He was 92 years young. William was born on March 28, 1921 in Cumberland, MD. His parents were the late William A. Whisner, Sr. and Daisy (Blackburn) Whisner.

Bill was also preceded in death by five siblings: the late Harry Whisner, Leotta Whisner, Ruth Bumgartner, Edna Soulsby, and Joann Kinlein. He also preceded his first wife, Evelyn (Pyles) Whisner and his second wife, Rosie (Griffet) Whisner.

Bill left behind two children: David J. Whisner and wife Becky, from Tulsa, and daughter, Carlinda Patterson from Marshfield, Mo. He has three grandsons: Stephen R. Patterson and wife Betty from Marshfield, Ryan Whisner from Lee Summit, Mo. and Brandon Whisner from Springfield. He has six great-grandchildren: five from Marshfield, Nichole, Lindee Lee, Stephen, Jr., and twins Gracie and Elizabeth Patterson and Gavin Whisner of Lee Summitt. And he has one step-daughter, Anita Beck.

William entered the military in 1942, he married in 1945, then in 1949 came to Springfield and went to C.B. I. after graduating from Bible School, he went to work at Lily Tulip. Then later he started working at Springfield City Utilities as a meter reader, he retired from there in 1968. He gave his heart to the Lord many years ago in Cumberland, he loved the Lord with all of his heart. He will be missed by his friends and family. But we are so thankful for the life he lived and his testimony of God's grace and power.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in Greenlawn East with Graveside Service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
