Robert Synnott Obituary

Robert William Synnott

December 15, 2014

Robert William Synnott, age 72, died December 15, 2014 at his home after many years of illness.

Bob is survived by his wife, Irene Synnott, his son Stephen Synnott (Michelle Synnott), his 5 step-children, Daniel Hansen (Lisa Polinsky), James Hansen (Laurel Uhligh-Hansen), Christopher Hansen (Barry Howard), Richard Hansen (Joellyn Gum), Deanna Hansen, his brother William Synnott (Christina Synnott), his sister Alicemarie Rice (Edward Rice), his 9 grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Sean Synnott.

Bob was a proud 14 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served his country in Vietnam and earned 3 Purple Hearts and a Navy Cross. He was deeply dedicated to his country and to the Marines. Everywhere Bob went he wore his Marine Corp cap or his Navy Cross and always met another Marine. Bob was always Semper Fi.

After his military career, Bob worked for 25 years at ConEdison in his home state of New York.

For 10 years Bob was an active volunteer at the Veterans Affairs in Cape Coral, FL. He loved giving back to his community and enjoyed being with other Veterans.

Funeral services will be held on December 19, 2014 at the National Cremation and Burial Society at 3453 Hancock Bridge Parkway, North Fort Myers, FL at 1pm. A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place afterwards at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres, FL at 4pm. A buffet dinner to follow at the Knights of Columbus in Lehigh.

Bob was an incredibly strong man, a kind man and a faithful man. He will be greatly missed.

To Bob's entire Family my deepest sympathy. Bob fought a long hard battle. He always kept positive. I had only known Bob for a few years thru his involvement and studies with the Charlotte County Parliamentarians and found how special Bob was. He will be missed by all his friends with the parliamentary unit.
