Bill is now safely in the arms of his Lord and Savior, passing on June 24, 2012, at age 85, following an extended illness.

A member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Bill was a lifelong Presbyterian and served in several churches. He served as a Deacon and was ordained an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Illinois, where he and Marilyn married in 1953, she survives.

After retirement from G.E., Bill owned an electrical distribution agency in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also held a U.S. Coast Guard license to operate passenger vessels and had a charter fishing business in Texas.

He moved to Cape Coral in 1994 and was active in New Resident and Navigator's Clubs. He was President of his condominium association for several years and also enjoyed boating and golfing.

Bill was a musician and enjoyed playing his trumpet even as his health declined. He was a WW II veteran. While stationed at the U.S. Naval Training Station in Great Lakes, Illinois, he was lead bugler, each morning playing Reville, evening Taps, and Sunday Church Call. He also served aboard ships in the Atlantic and Pacific and was stationed near Hiroshima and other Japanese ports at the end of the war.

In addition to Marilyn, he is survived by their son Bill and daughter-in-law Debra; grandson Grant (Brianna Roberts); and great grandson Dominic Michael Beebe all of Champaign, IL. He is also survived by his sister in law Carole, niece Beth, nephews Tom and Steve, and their children.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, the Rev. Dr. H. Timothy Halverson officiating. A brief visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service with a military ceremony and burial to follow.
