Philip Bartells Obituary
February 14, 1944 - May 17, 2022
Philip Sheridan "Phil" Bartells, 78, of Forest passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his residence. He was the loving and devoted husband of Glory Witt Bartells for 47 years.
Born on February 14, 1944 in Carthage, N.Y., he was a son of the late Donald French Bartells and Helen Daniels Bartells.
In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish his memory six children, Dean Bush and wife, Judy of Forest, Dale Bush, Tim Bush and wife, Melinda all of Lynchburg, Angel Allred of Forest, Becky Bartells of Harrisonburg, Mike Bartells and wife, Rosa of Mechanicsville; 11 grandchildren, Daniel Bush, Ryan Bush, Bobby Bush, Marybeth Bush, Josh Vickers, Leigh Vickers, Kasey Jane Allred, Kali Allred, Kayla Allred, Hunter Bartells and Brittny Six; two siblings, Peggy Brydges and husband, Warren of Rochester, N.Y. and Paul Bartells and wife, Sharon of Ft. Worth, Texas; his canine companion, Teenie; and many other relatives and friends.
Phil was a loving father and grandfather who loved and adored spending time with his family. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and his Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University. He was a retired Nuclear Engineer with Babcock and Wilcox and owner of Simtech Services. He was an antique enthusiast in restoring old radios and cars especially his Ford Galaxies. He traveled the world for his business; enjoyed golfing, coin collecting and was of the Methodist faith.
A Celebration of Phil's Life will be conducted at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 20, 2022 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory 427 Graves Mill Road in Lynchburg by the Rev. Dr. J. Monty Fox with burial to follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
