Joan Quinn Obituary

QUINN KRAMER - Joan, 93, artist, art historian & librarian passed away January 13, 2021. Married to Edward V O'Brien, they had three children, Joan S., Therese & Michael. Widowed at 33, she began work at NY Life where she met George F. Quinn; they were married for 35 years until his death in 2001. This marriage expanded her family to include stepdaughters, Margaret & Virginia Quinn. Joan held a Summa Cum Laude BA degree & a MA degree in art history. She was a founding member of the Studio 12 artists co-op under the mentorship of Vytautas Jonynas, a renowned international artist. She attended Paul Woods master workshop in Huntington as well as Steven Lampasona's master class at the Nassau Co Museum of Art. Her art work was selected for juried exhibitions & were displayed at many LI Libraries through 2018. Joan also received an MS in library science & was employed as an art historian & research librarian. She lectured on NYC architecture & Egyptian art. A 30 yr member of the AAUW & enjoyed singing with the Chordalaires & others. She also worked with the Crafty Ladies. Joan will be sorely missed by all those who dearly loved her. Family will be receiving friends on Monday, 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm, at Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday 10 am, at St. Frances de Chantal. Burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
