Betty Conine Obituary

Betty June Willis Conine, a long-time resident of the Panama City area, passed away Monday, September 18 in Orlando, Florida at the age of 85.

Born September 7,1932 in Hartford, Alabama, Betty was a 1950 graduate of Bay High School and long-time civil servant, retiring in 1997 from Tyndall Air Force Base.

Known simply as "Granny" or "Aunt Bet" by her loving family, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, she was a genuine caretaker to all whose supportive and rational advice was sought out and cherished. Betty loved to dance, especially at The Hangout in old Panama City Beach. She was also a voracious reader, avid cruciverbalist, intense follower of politics, and enjoyed researching and sharing family history with the other "First Cousins" of the Shields family.

Betty is preceded in death by father Grover Willis and mother Lena Shields Willis, brothers Earl and Henry, and sisters Gaynell Klein and Sue Swanson.

She is survived by her three children, Sherry (Ted) Czupryk of Memphis,TN; Don (Sabrena) Conine of Ballwin, MO; and Beth (Ron) Otts of Ocoee; six grandchildren, Tara Czupryk of New York, NY; Candise (Michael) White of St. Louis, MO; Derek Conine of St. Louis, MO; Josh (Bailey) Czupryk of Memphis, TN.; Ashley (Paul) Saitta of St. Louis, MO; and Morgan (Steven) Tucker of Ocoee, FL, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren Breanna, Tinley, Grayson, and Gavin, and her loyal dachshund Coco.

The family will be welcoming friends and loved ones for the visitation on Thursday, September 28th from 5pm-7pm at Wilson Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday at 1pm at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Luther Stanford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Pedal the Cause, an organization close to her heart. www.pedalthecause.org

I feel like I knew this sweet precious lady because of her wonderful son Don and his wife Sabrena. I never heard anything but love and admiration come from Don about his mom. She was a strong and vibrant woman that loved her family with all her heart and all her soul. She is now a precious angel in heaven and receiving her crown of glory for her love and faithfulness here on earth. Blessed are all who knew her. All my love and prayers are with her children today. Love always Cindy Baker
