SHAMOKIN — Dolores B. Furca, 82, of 176 Hemlock Road, formerly of Kulpmont, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital while surrounded by family and extended G-SACH family.
Dolores was born July 5, 1934, a daughter of the late John B. and Linda (Augustine) Tamanini.
She was educated in Mount Carmel Township schools.
She was a longtime waitress at Emilio's Cafe in Mount Carmel and was retired from Mount Carmel Nursing Home.
On Nov. 8, 1965, in Shamokin, she married Andrew Joseph Furca, who preceded her in death April 18, 2004.
Dolores was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels in Kulpmont.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and also had a love for dancing. She was an avid Mount Carmel Area Tornado football fan and attended all home games for the past 33 years.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Starkoski and her significant other, Jeffrey Hower, of Numidia, Teresa Hutnick and her husband, James, of Kulpmont, Frances Furca-Ruzicka and her significant other, Rick Burgos, of Sunbury, and Angela Furca and her husband, Jeffrey Brennan, of Shamokin, two brothers, Joseph "Chip" Tamanini, of New Cumberland, and John "Midge" Tamanini and his wife, Mary, of Foxborough, Massachusetts; seven grandsons, Carl Starkoski and his significant other, Angie Carta, of Mount Carmel, Jason Starkoski and his significant other, Hope Lowry, of Mount Carmel, Sean Starkoski and his wife, Tiffany, of Catawissa, David Owens and his wife, Heather, of Kulpmont; Eric Ruzicka and his significant other, Cortny Geise, of Trevorton, Andrew Ruzicka and his significant other, Victoria Mangiaruga, of Shamokin, and Nicholas Furca of Sunbury; two granddaughters, Jamie Ruzicka and her significant other, Zack McGinley, of Mount Carmel, and Kimberly Brennan and her significant other, Mark Zosh, of Mount Carmel; five great-grandsons, Tyler Owens, Landon McGinley, Colton Starkoski, Spencer Geise and Christian Ruzicka; three great-granddaughters, Keira Starkoski, Presley McGinley and Mia Rose Starkoski arriving in January; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Vytovich and Caroline Scicchitano; a sister-in-law, Victoria Tamanini; and two brothers-in-law, Ted Vytovich and Elmer Scicchitano.

A funeral Mass will be held at noon Tuesday in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating. Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, supervisor.
