COAL TOWNSHIP - Nicholas Wasilewski, 37, of Coal Township, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, doing what he loved: working as a yard jockey at Wegman's Distribution Center.
He was born in Coal Township, Oct. 12, 1985, a son of John and Wanda (Yost) Wasilewski.
Nicholas graduated from Shamokin Area High School, in 2005.
After graduating, he worked for Michael's Food, in Klingerstown, for 10 years. At the time of his death, he worked for Wegman's Distribution Center as a yard jockey. Nicholas was planning on attending truck driving school for Wegman's in September. He was a walking advertisement for his company, being proud to say he worked for Wegman's.
Nick loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a member of the Fairview Gun Club and Union County Sportsmen Club. He was so proud to say, "Hi Ho Butt," to his hunting crew. He was grateful to be a part of a great group of guys who helped shape his life.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church.
Nicholas was the guy in the floppy black cowboy hat with a smile on his face, a corny joke on his lips and arms that gave bone crushing hugs.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Julieann, married to Richard Rickert; two nieces, Adalynn and Dixie, whom he loved with his whole being.
He is the grandson of the late Ted and Daisy (Shingara) Yost; his Nana, Joann Wasilewski-Scotko, married to the late Ted Wasilewski and the late Ed Scotko.

My deepest sympathies to Nick's parents and family. Nick was a very kind and gentle soul. I loved how he lit up when telling me about an Uncle Nick moment. There was no doubt how much Nick loved his family. He will truly be missed by so many.
