SHAMOKIN — Timothy A. Varndell, 69, of High Road, Shamokin, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, surrounded by his family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Sunbury Aug. 13, 1947, he was a son of the late Herman C. and Marian C. Long Varndell.
He was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School, Class of 1965. Following high school he served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam as a special operations helicopter gunner, attaining the rank of corporal.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Lavelle, and the Sunbury Lodge #22 Free and Accepted Masons.
Tim was self-employed as a truck driver for 35 years, operating Varndell Trucking Co.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Chris.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Varndell, to whom he was married 16 years; four daughters, Kimberly, wife of Greg Riley, of Williamsburg, Virginia, Lisa Harris, of Newport News, Virginia, Brenda Schweitzer, of Shamokin, and Cheryl, wife of Robert Munro, of Evanston, Illinois; three sons, Tim Dressler, of Carson City, Nevada, Roland Weikel, of Dunshore, and Leonard Weikel and his wife, Tammy, of Greenville, Kentucky; two brothers, Mark Varndell and his wife, Cheryl, of Gordon, and Joel Varndell, of Selinsgrove; his dog and best friend, Chloe; 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
VARNDELL — Timothy A. Varndell, 69, of High Road, Shamokin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Nazarene, 2879 Fairgrounds Road, Lavelle. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeremy Smallwood, pastor. Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Ashland Lodge #294 F&AM conducting a Masonic funeral service at 6:30 p.m. The family requests memorials be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 2879 Fairgrounds Road, Lavelle, 17943. To Rose and the family!!!! So sorry for your lose. Tim fought a good fight!!!!! I remember all the times at the church!!!! Specially when he would dress. He was a character and know him and lee jr and lee sr can build us our mansions Rose. Expect just a little building for all our snowman. Lol!!! I knew i could make you smile. Never lose sight of all the memories and know from experience it going to be along road ahead, but message me and also i am only a call away.
