James "Scott" Rhodes

Age: 63 • Staunton, VA

James "Scott" Rhodes, 63, husband of Julie (Vines) Rhodes of 1110 North Coalter Street, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Rhodes was born on April 3, 1954 in Staunton, Virginia, a son of the late James Hubbard Rhodes and Ruby Scott (Clemmer) Rhodes.

Prior to his retiring from State Farm Insurance as a Claims Adjustor, Scott was employed as a body shop manager for Charlie Obaugh. He was a 1972 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, he enjoyed listening to music, yard work, remodeling, traveling and spending time with his family and boxer "Max".

Surviving in addition to his wife of 37 years and his mother of Staunton, are two daughters, Heather (Rhodes) Walsh and her husband Michael of Farr West, Utah and Katie Beth Jablonski and her husband Josh of Hampton; and four grandchildren, Bennett Walsh, Addison Walsh, Colton Jablonski, and Nolan Jablonski.

A Graveside Service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Thornrose Cemetery, "overlooking the beautiful mountains that Scott so dearly loved" the Rev. William "Bill" Trice.

Active pallbearers will be Drew Sterrett, Michael Walsh, Josh Jablonski, Charlie Stroppel, Mark Melton, David Walsh and Christopher Napier.

The family would like to thank the staff of Intrepid Hospice and Duke Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Scott during his illness.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, 1445 East Rio Road, Suite 104, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
