John Peterson Obituary

John Joseph Peterson, 60, of North Pole, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at Caring Bridges Assisted Living in Fairbanks after a lengthy battle with cancer.
John was born April 6, 1953, in Baltimore, Md., to Arvin Ellsworth Peterson and Sara Jane (McGraw) Peterson. John served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1969-1975. After completing his service, John was employed as a truck driver for most of his life. He traveled to Alaska 17 years ago and worked at the Santa Clause House and appeared as Kris Kringle for 7 years. His loved his Yamaha and enjoyed his travels in the state. John also drove visitors to the Interior to and from Chena Hot Springs during the tourist seasons.
John is survived by his brother, William Dean, of Crownsville, Md.; sisters Annetta Buchal, of Brooklynn Park, Md., DeborahLaVille, of Brooklynn Park, Md., Harriett Jackson, of Brooklynn Park, Md., and Mary Carpenter, of Childersburg, Ala.; two daughters, Carmen Peterson White, of Sylacauga, Ala., and Angela Peterson; grandson, Alex White; cousins, nieces and nephews across the country; and his friends in North Pole and Fairbanks. John is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert McGraw and Donald Peterson.
John's remains will go back to Alabama and be laid to rest by his family.
Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
