Charles Little Obituary

April 17, 1913 - February 7, 2004
Charles Howie Little, Jr., 90, former Raleigh resident and math professor at N C State, died Saturday, February 7, 2004 at his home in Sharon Towers, Charlotte, NC.
He was the son of the late Charles Howie Little, Sr. and the late Lucy Anderson Little of Charlotte. Charlie was born and raised in Mecklenburg County and graduated from Davidson College with a degree in mathematics.
He later obtained a Master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, also in mathematics. During World War II, Charlie served as an officer in Naval pre-flight training, specializing in navigational training.
He remained in the Navy Reserves for 30 years, and retired with the rank of Captain. Charlie was a dedicated educator, having taught in a high school in Charlotte and at Presbyterian Junior College in Maxton.
After World War II, Charlie took a position on the faculty at North Carolina State, and remained a faculty member in the mathematics department until his retirement in the late 1970's.
Charlie, a loving husband and devoted dad and granddad, is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret P. Little of Sharon Towers, Charlotte; son Charles H. Little, III and wife Greer of Apex; son, J. Anderson Little and wife Katie of Chapel Hill; granddaughters, Kellie Ann Little of Cary, Avery Ellen Little of Apex and Kimberly Diane Little of Cary; grandson, Cully Little of Chapel Hill; and great granddaughter, Samantha Rae Little of Cary.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2004 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sharon Towers in Charlotte. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday , February 11, 2004 at Sharon Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.
