Larry Felton Tilley, D.D.S., 66, died peacefully at home in Raleigh on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, following several years of declining health due to Parkinson's disease.
He was born in Raleigh to Felton and Rose Tilley. He attended Needham Broughton High School and North Carolina State University before graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. For more than thirty years, Larry treated patients at his dental practice in Raleigh, where he was known for an always caring and gentle manner. An Eagle Scout, Larry enjoyed serving as a scoutmaster in Troop 207, along with both of his sons and many dear friends.
Larry is survived by his wife Deborah Britt Tilley; sister Jan Williams; son Matthew Tilley and wife Kyle; daughter Amanda Talbert and husband Josh; daughter Natalie Tilley; son Cameron Tilley; and three grandchildren Charles, Violette, and John.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Carolina Dental Society Foundation (www.ncdentalfoundation.org). Arrangements by Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Raleigh.

Dear Tilley Family: I'm so sorry to hear about Larry's passing. He was my first employer and remained my friend for thirty years. He was a first rate dentist, caring person and a proud family man. From the NBHS class of 1971, Larry was one of the really good guys......a class act , and a good friend. He even agreed to take me on as a patient when I returned to Raleigh in 1990. He will be missed. Rest in peace, my old friend.

I did some temporary dental hygiene work in Dr. Tilley's office some years back. I didn't spend much time there but I knew he was a good man who cared about those he served. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. Barbara Hess Raleigh

Larry was a wonderful cousin. I have many memories of our times playing tag at our house. His Uncle Susie was especially proud of all his accomplishments and the man he was. Larry carried the name TILLEY proudly for all of us. You are missed.
