Louisa Bourne Obituary

Louisa Borden Hooker Bourne, 91, died on November 12, 2004 at the Evergreens in Greensboro, N.C. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2004, 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
The daughter of William Edgar and Annie Lee Borden Hooker, Mrs. Bourne was a native of Pitt County. She was valedictorian of her class at Greenville High School, a 1933 graduate of Duke University where she was president of the Woman's Student Government, a graduate of The John' Hopkins School of Nursing, and she received Master's Degrees in Education and Counseling from UNCG. She was a teacher and counselor at Lindley Junior and Peck Elementary schools in Greensboro for 25 years. An active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, AAUW, and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, she was also a long time volunteer with Hospice, the YWCA and the American Red Cross.
Mrs. Bourne is survived by three daughters, Anne Hart of Archdale, NC, Patricia "Trish" Lanier and husband Steven of Durham, NC, and Valle Crucis, Elizabeth "Betsy" Evans and husband Garris of Greensboro and Belhaven, NC; seven grandchildren, Harrison Evans of Greenville, NC, Claire Adams of Raleigh, NC, Hope Lanier of Charlotte, NC, Marcus Lanier of Brunswick, Ga. Chris Zeitvogel of Japan, Maria Zeitvogel-Smith of Denver, Co., Lisa Williams of Wichita, Ks, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will welcome friends at the home of Betsy and Garris Evans at 708 Twyckenham Drive, Greensboro on Sunday from 3 til 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Library, 2105 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27403 and Hospice and Palliative Care, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel is assisting the Bourne family.
