Louise King Obituary

Louise Currie King

Raleigh

Louise Currie King, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Raleigh, surrounded by family, on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

She was born on August 19, 1943 to and preceded in death by Albert and Eunice Currie of Hoke County, NC. On May 30, 1964, she married Buddy Ray King, who also preceded her in death. They eventually settled in Raleigh, where she lived for the past 39 years. A graduate of Greensboro Women's college, she worked as a math teacher before transitioning into the field of computer programming.

Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was also an avid bridge player. One of her greatest joys was running the Vanderbilt Bridge Club, where she loved directing and supporting the Raleigh bridge community.

She is survived by her two children: Shannon King and her husband Mike Jenkins of Virginia, and Matt King and his wife Heidi of Raleigh. She also has 4 grandchildren that brought her great joy: CJ and William Paschall, Noah Jenkins and AJ Quade. Additionally, Louise had four sisters whom she dearly loved: Dot Humphrey and husband James of Raleigh, Pat Worsham and husband Jim of Bluefield, VA, Carolyn Ashley and her husband George of Youngsville, and Shirley Marshall, who lost her battle to ALS in 2002. She was also devoted to her many nieces and nephews who carried a special place in her heart.

Services will be private.

Memorial donations may be made in Louise's name to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

I worked with Louise many years ago at First Citizens Bank in the programming department. She was a hard worker and very smart. She loved her children and was a great mom. I always enjoyed talking to her.
