Mattie Walser Obituary

Mrs. Mattie Lou Baker Walser, 73, of 810 Springs St., died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Unity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jennie Bickett officiating. Inurnment will be at the church columbarium.
A native of China Grove, Mrs. Walser was a daughter of the late Howard Odell Baker and Effie Lou Blackburn Baker. She was a retired teacher's aid with the Fort Mill school district and was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered with the Mary Martha Circle, was Captain of the Food Team and volunteered in the church office. She was a member of the local bridge club and was a former member of The Fort Mill Garden Club. She was the widow of James Eugene Walser.
Surviving are two sons, Kim Michael Walser of Weddington and Brad Baker Walser of Charlotte; her daughter, Dawn Renee Walser of Fort Mill; four brothers, Sammy Baker and Denver Baker, both of Orlando, FL, Jimmy Baker of Titusville, FL, Ted Baker of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Emma Jean Bracewall and Wilma Miller, both of Orlando, FL; and her grandson.
The family will receive friends after the service Monday at the church and other times at the home.
Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.
