Ronald Schwartz Obituary

Ronald Schwartz
December 27, 1933 - December 18, 2022
Raleigh, North Carolina - Ronald Schwartz passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 as a result of a massive stroke, quickly and without pain. Ron was born on December 27,1933 in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of Albert and Ida Schwartz. He was reared in Washington, DC. He met the love of his life, Eileen at the tender age of 15, when his high school fraternity crashed her 13th birthday backyard party in Richmond, VA. It was love at first sight and they dated long distance for 5 years. Ron graduated from the Wharton's School of Business and was a member of AEPi Fraternity. While still in school, Ron and Eileen married one day shy of Ron's 21st birthday. Being underage, he needed his parent's permission to get married. Their union lasted a fun-filled 62 years before Eileen's passing in 2016. Ron served in the Coast Guard as a newly married man and was very proud of his service.
Ron was a terrific husband, father, and grandfather, friend and mentor. Together, Ron and Eileen raised their three wonderful children, Meryle, Amy and Stuart. Ron was a serial entrepreneur, growing a successful wine distribution business and then at the age of 50, starting a thriving real estate career at Parker-Lincoln, York Properties and KW Commercial. His daughter, Amy partnered with Ron for 15 years until his retirement at the age of 80. Ron particularly loved helping clients build wealth and mentoring newly minted brokers at York Properties. Ron dominated the newly burgeoning office condominium market in Raleigh and quickly became known as the "Condo King."
Ron belonged to Temple Beth Or and Beth Meyer Synagogue since 1963 and served in many different roles. He was also a founding member of Raleigh's Jewish Community Center and avid supporter of the Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh. Ron loved to sail and participate in regattas in his formative years and enjoyed the hobby of photography. He was passionate about real estate investing and stock market strategies.
The Cypress of North Raleigh became Ron and Eileen's final home in 2014. There they were surrounded by many friends, old and new. Dave Mazzo and Bettye Gunter were especially close to Ron. A special thank you to Ron's lifelong internist, Dr. Steve Liebowitz, for wonderful care.
Ron was loved by many and will be missed terribly. He was predeceased by parents Albert and Ida Schwartz and his beloved wife, Eileen. He is survived by his children Meryle Schwartz and wife, Cheryl Mesimore of Sneads Ferry, Amy Bush and husband, Leonard of Raleigh, Stuart Schwartz and wife, Sharon of Raleigh, Grandchildren, Adam Bush, Michael Bush, Eric Schwartz and Michelle Schwartz. Also surviving are special cousins Stanley Rodbell and Larry Stein.
Contributions in Ron's honor can be made to: The Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh, Beth Meyer Synagogue, or Temple Beth Or.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 20th 1 pm at Temple Beth Or located at 5315 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh 27612 with graveside service following at The Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery.
Shiva Services will be held on Tuesday & Wednesday, December 20 & 21, 7pm at Temple Beth Or. Shiva Service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 7 pm at the home of Amy & Leonard Bush 1801 Manuel Street Raleigh NC 267612.
