Robert Pitt Obituary

Pitt Jr, Robert F.
Robert Francis Pitt, Jr. was born November 1, 1953 in Bridgeport, CT and died June 25, 2016 at Danbury Hospital when his heart stubbornly refused to beat. He grew up on the campus of Fairfield University and was educated at St. Emery's in Bridgeport, Fairfield Prep, and the University of Notre Dame where he earned a BA in American Studies, and later a Juris Doctor degree, making him a "double domer" and a somewhat obnoxiously ardent Irish sports fan. In 1975 he served as a VISTA Volunteer in Bismarck, North Dakota where he met his future wife, Jane Bickford, an attorney and transplanted Californian. They moved to South Bend, IN where Bob returned to Notre Dame for law school. They married at Notre Dame in 1977 and moved back to Bridgeport in 1979 where Bob began his legal career, which soon evolved into real estate title work. The family moved to Bethel in 1987 and in 2000 Bob established his own title search business, RP Title, LLC serving clients throughout western Connecticut. He was for many years an active member of the Bethel Democratic Town Committee and served on several boards including the Board of Finance, Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Assessment Appeals. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: his son, Thomas Pitt and wife Claire and their children, Sam, and the triplets Jon, Ben and Georgia Rose; and by his daughter, Maggie Pitt, all of Nashville, TN. He was predeceased by both parents, Doris DeRose Pitt and Robert Francis Pitt, Sr. of Fairfield, CT and later Keene, NH. His family, together with many cousins and old friends, will celebrate his life with a memorial roast on July 23rd in Fairfield. Please contact Jane Bickford at [email protected] if you would like to join them. Jane will be moving to Nashville shortly thereafter. Online condolences may be made at www.thegreenfuneralhome.com.

Jane,
Bob was a friend whose company always gave me a touch of brightness whenever we met which was often in some windowless land records vault. He will always be a fond memory for me. His earthly loss is saddening, but I'm confident that his spirit still soars. With Fondness, Joe
