S. LiVolsi Obituary

S. James LiVolsi
S. James LiVolsi passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 18th.
Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, on April 19th, 1934, to Leona and Sam LiVolsi, Jim spent his early years in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.
Graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. degree, Jim returned in later years and earned his MBA. He proudly served in the United States Army.
After meeting on a blind date, Jim and Carol (Kenny) were married in 1961 in St. Anastasia Church in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Jim spent 30 years of his working career at American Can Company. He ended his career with the wonderful people at New England Uniform.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, as well as his caring and devoted children: Tim and his wife, Mary Beth (James, Daniel, Peter), Kathleen, Kevin and his wife, Danielle (Jackie, Gregory, Matthew), Beth Anne, Teresa and her husband, Jamie (Jackson, Luca, Carter), and Megan (Emma). He is also survived by three great grandchildren. Sadly predeceasing Jim are his two beloved children, Greg and Patricia.
Many wonderful years were spent as Committee Chairman of Boy Scout Troop 33. Lengthy canoe trips, mountain climbing, bear sightings, and campfire dinners were legendary. Watching his three boys attain the rank of Eagle Scout was very special to him.
Although he played semi-pro baseball, Jim coached the St. Joseph Girls' Basketball Team for many years. He inspired his "girls" to play to win, enjoy the game, and practice sportsmanship. Shooting foul shots underhanded and never missing was his trademark.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Monday, October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, a small contribution in Jim's memory may be made to Immaculate High School, Angel Aid Scholarship Fund, at 73 Southern Boulevard, Danbury, CT, or to St. Joseph School, 370 Main Street, Danbury, CT. To light a candle, please visit www. CornellMemorial.com.

I just learned of Jim's passing. Jim LiVolsi was one of the finest men I have ever known. A fantastic Scout leader, a trusted neighbor, and he had a nice hook shot! Jim and Carol set the tone for all of us in the Stonegate neighborhood - a loving and caring set of parents who raised an exceptional family of eight children. The LiVolsi home was the gathering point for all of the local boys back in the day, and Jim would often join in the pickup basketball games in the LiVolsi driveway. Jim is now with Greg and Patricia, and is a beacon for the LiVolsi family. Bravo Jim, for a life well lived.
