James A. Vaughn, Jr., 57 of Oglesby died unexpectedly June 5, 2023 in St. Margaret's Health, Spring Valley.
A short Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday June 14, 2023 at the Oglesby Elks Lodge. Pastor Ed Bertrand will officiate. A luncheon will be provided following the service.
Visitation will be 10a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the lodge. Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby is in charge of arrangements.
Jim was born April 6, 1966 in Spring Valley to James and Elinor (Schrowang) Vaughn, Sr. He married Debora Borovac May 23, 1998 in Holy Family Church, Oglesby.
Jim owned and operated Vaughn Financial Services, LLC.
Jim was an active member of the community having served as commissioner of finance for the city of Oglesby. He also served on the symphony board, was a member of Rotary and helped get the Veterans Memorial erected in Peru. Jim is also a Board Member of Starved Rock Yacht Club.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle and being with friends and family. Jim was always the guy who said "I got it", "I'll take care of it". No matter what needed to be done or who needed help he was The Guy! You could always count on him.
He will be remembered for his contagious smile, easy laugh, unconditional giving nature and the Best bear hugs ever!
He is survived by his wife Debbie of Oglesby, mother Elinor of Peru a sister Vonda (Tim) Schmidt of Huntley, a niece Ainsley Lang and a nephew James Lang.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the LaSalle Veteran's Home, Oglesby Fire and Ambulance or Wallace Fire Department.
