Died: July 6, 2022 in Joliet, IL
John T. Flannery, 92, of Joliet, formerly of La Salle, passed away July 6, 2022 at Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Patrick's Church in La Salle with Rev. Jeff Windy officiating. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Cemetery in La Salle. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Sunday at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
Mr. Flannery was born in La Salle on June 4, 1930 to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" (Donovan) Flannery. John married Ramona "Mona" Dusch at St. Patrick's Church in La Salle on June 4, 1955. Mona preceded him in passing in 2016. Mr. Flannery worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company having had 16 position titles, retiring as the Illinois Bell Benefits manager in Chicago. He worked for 48 years. He belonged to the Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fisherman. He loved listening to Gospel and Blues music.
Mr. Flannery is survived by his children John (Nancy Lorance) Flannery of Wheaton, Mark (Chris Basso) Flannery of Peoria, and Ann Flannery of Joliet; many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mona; three sisters Lucille, Mary, and Margaret; and three brothers Jim, Vince, and Ed.
