Juanita (Gusman) Baron, 91, of La Salle, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2022 in the home of her daughter Barbara Baron.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday December 3, 2022 in St. Patrick's Church in La Salle with the Very Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Cremation will take place after the services and burial will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery in La Salle at a later date. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services.
Mrs. Baron was born in DePue on February 17, 1931 to Guadalupe and Delores (Tinoco) Gusman. She worked at Westclox's and later at Bassick's in Spring Valley. She married Richard J. Baron in St. Mary's Church in DePue on September 19, 1953.
Juanita was a member of St. Patrick's Church and past president of Ladies of Charity. She helped with cleaning of the church, being a Eucharistic Minister to shut-ins and local nursing homes. She helped start the prayer chain group.
Mrs. Baron is survived by one daughter Barbara Baron of La Salle; two sons, Richard (Renee) Baron of East Peoria and Bill (Tina) Baron of La Salle; one grandson; four brothers, Raymond Gusman of DePue, Robert (Barbara) Gusman of Peoria Heights, Andrew (Theresa) Gusman of Chillicothe, and Gus (Leah) Gusman of Minden, LA; two sisters, Julianna Hardy of Peru and Gloria (Dale) Samolinski of Peru; nieces and nephews. Juanita also had a beloved adopted family, Javiar and Gabby Casas and their children, Jackie, Raffy, Jesse and Clarissa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on September 17, 2007, three brothers, Guadalupe Gusman Jr., Trinidad Gusman and Alveno Gusman, and one sister Jesse Cervantes.
