PEORIA – Mary "Sue" Cain, age 87, of Peoria, passed away at 11:57 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at her residence with her family by her side.
Born June 17, 1934 in Peoria, Sue was a daughter to James and Margaret (Colgan) McLaughlin. On May 12, 1956 she married Richard "Dick" Cain at St. Mark Catholic Church and together they cherished nearly 66 years.
Survivors include her husband Dick of Peoria; two children: Anthony "Tony" (Peggy) Cain of Peru, IL and Margaret "Peg" Nocera of La Grange, IL; four grandchildren: Megan, Jaclyn, Cain and Anton; three sisters: Jean Reed of Bloomington, Marge Sanzotta of Bloomington and Cathy Gillette of Chillicothe; one brother Patrick McLaughlin of Peoria; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Bill, Jim and Tom McLaughlin.
Sue never missed an opportunity to take care of anyone in need or cooking up her favorite dishes for family gatherings. If there was music playing, especially rag time jazz, you would see Sue showing off her amazing Charleston moves. She was an accomplished seamstress and worked in the insurance industry for many years. Sue lovingly touched many people of Peoria when she served under the Township Relief office administering assistance programs to those in need.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM until time of Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate, and entombment of ashes will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.
