Carl Langner Obituary

LANGNER, CARL E. Carl E. Langner, 79, of North Haven and beloved husband of Jean Langner passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 after a brief illness. Carl, Son of the late Conrad Langner and Mary Smallman Langner was born in New Haven on August 24, 1933. Carl retired from Metro North Railroad after 45 years of service. He loved vacations at the family cabin in Maine, Cruises with his wife Jean and spending time in Florida. Carl was an avid sports fan, he loved the UCONN women's basketball team and the New York Giants; and he especially loved the Redsox, whom he saw win the World Series twice! Every summer Carl looked forward to family picnics, volleyball and horseshoes. Carl proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean war. He loved Jazz music and was an amazing dancer. He also loved his Corvette and had been a proud owner since his first one in 1953. Carl will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides his wife Jean, Carl is survived by his children, Sandy Renfro (Kevin) of Middletown, Carl Langner (Connie) of North Haven, Kim Nicefaro (Anthony) of North Haven and Jay Langner (Diana) of North Haven. Carl is survived by eight grandchildren, Tracey, Michael and Kyle Langner of North Haven, Anthony and Austin Nicefaro of North Haven, Tyler Renfro of Middletown, Samantha and Jacob Langner of North Haven, as well as his brother Robert Langner of Wallingford and many nieces, nephews and his extended family of friends. The visiting hours will be Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 am, in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00, followed by a mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Francis Cabrini Church at 11:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital, P.O.
