CHRISTOPHER SHEEHAN Obituary

SHEEHAN, CHRISTOPHER J. PROSPECT - Christopher J. Sheehan, 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Conn. Christopher was born August 22, 1950, in Southington, Conn., the son of the late Edward and Katherine (Vickers) Sheehan Sr. He had been a longtime resident of Cheshire, Conn. and a communicant of St. Bridget Church before moving to Middlebury. He graduated from Merrimack College and obtained graduate degrees from Wesleyan University, Trinity College and Sacred Heart University. Most recently, he worked at Sacred Heart University in the Communications Department as an Editor and a Writer. He was extremely generous and was actively involved in several charitable organizations. Two of his favorites were Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society, in which he was a past president of the Connecticut chapter. Chris was also quite proud of his gold level status of donating blood to the American Red Cross. Christopher is survived by his brothers, Edward Jr. of Prospect, who he lived with and was his primary care giver, Thomas, James and his wife Lorraine, and David and his wife Sherrie Sheehan, all of Cheshire. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored and was extremely proud of; Stephanie Sheehan and her husband Duane Samuel, and their two children, Zoë and Lachlan, Katherine Ebersole and her husband Garrett, Robert Sheehan, James Sheehan Jr., Ryan Sheehan, and Jonathan Sheehan, as well as longtime and dear friend Pam Monahan of Naugatuck, Conn. Arrangements – A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Chris, my brother, traveling companion, and all-around best friend. Tomorrow it will be a month since you left us, and our sorrow is immense. Knowing you are in a better place, with no suffering, eases our pain somewhat. Rest in peace, brother. Mac

Chris was a valued friend and co-worker. As a former member of my staff he brought skill, intelligence, wit and wisdom. He will be missed. May he rest in peace!

To all my Sheehan cousins,

we have just returned from vacation, and was deeply saddened to learn of Christopher's death. Chirs was always a joy to be with his wit and humor always keeping us laughing. We recall Mac and Chris's visit to our home in Palm Springs, with much pleasure. Katherine was my first cousin, and she too was an excellent writer, as was Chris. I recall Chris as an active young child, and was very proud of his many accomplishments in his chosen career and especially his writing abilities. He will be missed by all.

With our deep sympathy, Lou Thibault and Ben Sandoval, Palm Springs, CA.
